Honda launched their unbranded new RA107 machine this week with surprisingly little fanfare. The all black Honda was given a go around Barcelona with Jenson Button finally returning to the wheel after his karting injury late last year. Old Jens says that his break did nothing to deter his speed yet his 2007 challenger had an early morning on-track hiccup. Honda's Nick Fry hopes that 2007 will prove to be more consistent and they hope to have a competitive car right from Round 1 in Melbourne. Button seems to be a bit cautiouss as his hopes for 2007 saying "Personally I want to win many races, that's always a driver's aim, but first we have to see if it's reality when we arrive in Melbourne."
Red Bull Racing had a shockingly modest unveiling of the much touted Adrian Newey designed RB3 in Barcelona today (Friday). New addition Mark Webber took the beautiful Mclaren-esque car out for its first dance around the freshly renovated Spanish circuit. Still no word on when the Red Bull Junior Team Toro Rosso launch will be but boss Gerhard Berger announced at the RB3 launch that 2007 driver decision will be soon. It's likely to be Scott Speed and V. Liuzzi. Berger has said that wants to test Champ Car maestro Seb Bourdais more in 2007 for a possible race seat in 2008.
Both Ferrari and Mclaren test sessions have been deterred because of nasty weather in Italy and Spain. Lewis Hamilton had a sizable 185mph shunt in his new Mclaren and walked away with relatively no injury. Until then, Alonso was quite a bit quicker in testing. Kimi Raikkonen had his first outing in a Ferrari, all be it last years 248. Kimi's still getting to terms with his new team while Massa puts the 2007 car through its paces... and crashes too.
